Bringing people together through community projects
The Lambourn Junction initiates occasional activities and projects that strengthen community spirit, resilience and capability across the Valley. By bringing residents, volunteers and organisations together, it turns local ideas into practical action. From training and workshops to shared celebrations and environmental improvements, these initiatives build skills, confidence, connections and mutual support.
Alongside our regular activities, we organise and support projects that respond to local needs and ideas. Some happen once, while others return occasionally. Each provides an opportunity for people to contribute, learn something new and make a difference together.

Community enablement workshop
We organised a workshop with Community Organisers to help local representatives explore ways of strengthening community connections. The session focused on listening to residents, understanding their needs and bringing organisations together around shared goals.
First aid training
We organise first aid courses to give residents the skills and confidence to help in an emergency. Participants learn practical techniques and are encouraged to join GoodSAM, which can alert trained volunteers when someone nearby needs urgent assistance.

Defibrillator and CPR training
We arranged practical training to help residents learn how to perform CPR and use a defibrillator. These sessions build confidence and strengthen our community’s ability to respond during the vital minutes before emergency services arrive.
Suicide prevention workshops
We organised suicide prevention training to help residents recognise when someone may be struggling and feel more confident about offering support. The workshops covered warning signs, starting a conversation and finding appropriate professional help.
Drugs awareness workshop
We brought local organisations together to discuss drug and substance misuse across the Valley. The workshop encouraged greater awareness, education and collaboration, helping participants understand the support available and how their efforts could connect.
Flood preparedness
Through the Lambourn Shed, we supported a community project to prepare 100 sandbags for use if flooding occurs. Initiated by Penny Brewer of the Lambourn Environmental Group, the project combined volunteer effort with materials donated by Fort Builders Merchants to strengthen local preparedness.
Community clear up
Our Lambourn Shed volunteers joined residents in Great Shefford to clear overgrown verges and reclaim a footpath. Working together, they made the route safer and easier to use, showing how a small contribution from many people can achieve a visible improvement.
Community running tracks
We worked with members of our Lambourn Valley Running Club to reinstate the sprint track and running circuit on the old cricket field. Building on an idea originally developed by the Lambourn Youth Council, the project provides a shared space for exercise, training and outdoor enjoyment.
Lambourn Valley Fun Run
Through our Lambourn Valley Running Club, and in partnership with Lambourn Sports Club, we helped bring the first Valley Fun Run to life. Children’s races and a longer countryside run brought residents, volunteers, businesses and landowners together for a celebration of participation and community spirit.
Family cooking sessions
We helped organise a family cooking session with Hungerford Food Community, supported by Everyone Active. Children and adults prepared fresh dishes together, learnt useful skills and discovered how healthy cooking can be easy, sociable and enjoyable.
Breadmaking workshops
Through the Lambourn Shed, we organised breadmaking workshops where residents learnt baking techniques in a friendly setting. Participants shared knowledge, made a variety of breads and enjoyed their creations together, combining practical learning with conversation and friendship.
Bird box workshop
Our Lambourn Shed brought people of different ages together to build bird boxes and learn woodworking skills. Using donated materials and tools, participants made useful homes for local wildlife while enjoying a sociable morning of shared activity.
These projects grow from the ideas, skills and goodwill of people across the Valley. We provide support, bring partners together and help turn those ideas into activities that benefit our community.
