Tegan first became involved with 4LEGS Radio last year, when she completed six weeks of work experience with the station as part of her media studies. Having gained experience behind the scenes and in the studio, she returned on Friday 21 August to take the next step and present her very own programme.
Tegan’s Take featured a selection of favourite tracks chosen by Tegan’s family and friends, with Tegan explaining the stories and reasons behind their choices. It proved to be a great format for her first programme and an opportunity to put the broadcasting skills she developed during her work experience into practice.
If you missed Tegan’s first show, you can listen again on Mixcloud: Tegan’s Take, 21 August 2026
The good news is that it will not be a one off. Tegan is already planning to return to the studio to present her next show in October.
A Community Radio Station for the Lambourn Valley
4LEGS Radio is the Lambourn Valley’s community radio station, providing an entertaining mixture of music, local news, interviews and programmes reflecting life across the valley. Run with the support of volunteers, presenters and contributors, the station also provides an excellent opportunity for local people to experience radio broadcasting for themselves.
The station recently moved into its new purpose built studio, creating an even better base from which to develop local programming and encourage new presenters and contributors.
Tegan’s experience is a great example of how a community radio station can also give young people the opportunity to develop practical media skills, build confidence and experience what it is like to create and present a real radio programme.
4LEGS Radio would particularly like to hear from other young people who might be interested in getting involved or having a go at presenting their own show. No previous broadcasting experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and some ideas!
