A brand new walking group has got off to a brilliant start in Lambourn, with more than 15 people joining in its very first week, and there is plenty of room for more.

The Lambourn Valley Walking Group is the latest initiative from the Lambourn Junction Community Interest Company, and it is already proving exactly what the village needs. Simple, friendly and open to everyone, it is all about getting people outdoors, enjoying the local countryside and having a good chat along the way.

The idea is refreshingly straightforward. Regular walks take place along local footpaths and bridleways, making the most of the beautiful Lambourn Valley landscape. With its rolling chalk downland, quiet lanes and wide open views, the area offers the perfect setting for a relaxed walk, whether you are new to it or have lived here for years.

Importantly, this is not a club for seasoned hikers or serious athletes. It is designed to be inclusive, sociable and easy to join. Walks are set at a comfortable pace, with a strong emphasis on conversation, wellbeing and simply getting out of the house. As many walking groups have found, it is a gentle and accessible way to improve fitness while also building friendships and reducing isolation.

The early response speaks for itself. With 10 people already taking part in the first week, the group is quickly building momentum and creating a welcoming atmosphere where new faces are always encouraged.

If you are thinking about joining, now is the perfect time. There is no pressure, no special equipment needed beyond a decent pair of shoes, and no expectation other than turning up and enjoying yourself. Whether you come on your own or with a friend, you will find a friendly group ready to welcome you. Call Hayley on 01488 505050 to join – no joining fee or membership fees.
