Around 11 families came together at Lambourn Sports Club for a friendly family food session, with a Halloween theme, jointly organised by Hungerford Food Communities and Lambourn Junction.

With children aged from around two to ten joining in, the session was a lovely opportunity for families to spend time together, develop cooking skills and discover how to prepare healthy, affordable meals from scratch.

A fantastic team of volunteers helped everyone get involved, creating a welcoming atmosphere where families could learn and share ideas.

A huge thank you goes to Penny and Barry from Hungerford Food Communities for supplying the food and generously sharing their knowledge, skills and enthusiasm. We are also very grateful to Lambourn Sports Club for providing the venue free of charge, and to all the volunteers who helped make the session such a success.

There is already plenty of interest in holding more sessions locally. Hungerford Food Communities would be keen to explore another session around Christmas, as well as further opportunities during school term time.

Families can also keep the inspiration going through the West Berkshire Family Cooking WhatsApp group, run by Penny Locke from Hungerford Food Communities. This friendly group offers Zoom cookery sessions, family recipes and practical ideas for preparing healthy meals on a budget. Members are welcome to share recipes, ask questions and suggest ingredients or dishes they would like help with.

If you would like to attend a future session, suggest an idea or find out about the WhatsApp group, please contact Hayley Warrick, Lambourn Valley Community Organiser, at hayley.warrick@lambournjunction.uk or on 01488 505050.
