Position Overview:
The Safeguarding Officer at Lambourn Junction Community Interest Company plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved with the CIC. This includes employees, volunteers, service users, and any other stakeholders. The Safeguarding Officer is responsible for implementing and overseeing effective safeguarding policies and procedures in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy Development and Implementation:

  • Develop, review, and implement safeguarding policies and procedures tailored to the specific needs and context of Lambourn Junction CIC.
  • Ensure that all staff and volunteers are aware of and trained on safeguarding policies and procedures.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential safeguarding risks within the CIC.
  • Implement measures to mitigate identified risks and promote a safe environment for all stakeholders.

Training and Awareness:

  • Organise and deliver safeguarding training sessions for staff, volunteers, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Raise awareness of safeguarding issues and promote a culture of vigilance and responsibility.

Reporting and Record-Keeping:

  • Establish and maintain accurate records related to safeguarding concerns and incidents.
  • Ensure that all incidents are reported in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Confidentiality and Privacy:

  • Uphold strict confidentiality in handling safeguarding matters, ensuring sensitive information is only shared on a need-to-know basis.
  • Educate staff and volunteers on the importance of confidentiality in safeguarding situations.

Collaboration with External Agencies:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external safeguarding agencies and authorities.
  • Collaborate with relevant external organisations to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding within the community.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Regularly review and evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Implement improvements based on lessons learned and emerging best practices.

Support and Advocacy:

  • Provide support and guidance to individuals who may have safeguarding concerns.
  • Advocate for the rights and well-being of vulnerable individuals within the Lambourn Junction CIC community.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant professional qualification in safeguarding, social work, or a related field.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
