There was plenty of dough flying and a whole lot of fun recently at the Lambourn Youth Junction, where a lively pizza making session, part of the Summer Celebration to mark end of term, brought young people together for a hands-on evening of food and creativity.

The event gave youngsters the chance to roll up their sleeves, quite literally, and craft their own pizzas from scratch. From stretching the dough to choosing toppings and having their creations baked in a proper wood fired oven.

The wood fired ovens themselves, along with all the ingredients and know-how, were generously provided by The Lambourn Shed, who helped set the scene for a great evening. The Shed is known for its practical community spirit, and this collaboration with the Youth Junction hit just the right note.

Each pizza was a little different. Some went heavy on the cheese, others piled on the pepperoni, and there may have been a few slightly charred crusts, but the joy was in the making, not just the eating.

“Mine’s got pepperoni, ham, mushrooms and lots of cheese,” said one grinning participant. Another declared theirs the best pizza ever because they made it.

The session was not just about food. It was about confidence, learning new skills, and having fun with friends in a safe and welcoming space. It is another lovely example of what can happen when local groups work together with young people at the heart of it all.
