1. Introduction

The Lambourn Junction Community Interest Company (Lambourn Junction CIC) is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all who engage in our activities. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our commitment to ensuring the welfare and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults participating in our projects, programs, events, and services.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all volunteers associated with Lambourn Junction CIC who may come into contact with children, young people and vulnerable adults during the course of their activities. It is the responsibility of every volunteer to familiarise themselves with and adhere to this policy.

3. Definitions

  • Children and Young People: all individuals under the age of 18.
  • Vulnerable Adults: Individuals above the age of 18 who, due to their age, disability, illness, or other factors, are at a greater risk of being harmed physically, emotionally, financially, or otherwise, and may require assistance or protection.
  •  Volunteers: Individuals who contribute their time and services to Lambourn Junction CIC without financial remuneration.

4. Policy Statement

Lambourn Junction CIC acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and is committed to ensuring that safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance, and complies with best practice.

5. Principles

Lambourn Junction CIC adheres to the following principles:

  • All children, young people and vulnerable adults, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation or identity, have the right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse.
  • Working in partnership: Lambourn Junction CIC will work in partnership with children,young people and vulnerable adults, their parents/carers, and other agencies to promote the welfare, health, and development of children and young people.

6. Volunteer Responsibilities

All volunteers must:

  • Understand and adhere to this Safeguarding Policy in conjunction with the Safeguarding Guidance
  • Attend relevant safeguarding training provided by Lambourn Junction CIC.
  • Report any concerns or suspicions about the welfare of a child, young person or vulnerable adult to the designated safeguarding officer.
  • Treat all children, young people and vulnerable adults with respect and dignity, and ensure their well-being is the priority.

7. Reporting Procedure

If a volunteer has concerns about the welfare of a child, young person or vulnerable adult, they should immediately report their concerns to the designated safeguarding officer, who will follow the appropriate procedures outlined in Lambourn Junction CIC’s Reporting and Responding to Concerns Policy.

8. Designated Safeguarding Officer

The designated safeguarding officer for Lambourn Junction CIC is Anna Field, who can be contacted at 07799 652728. The designated safeguarding officer is responsible for ensuring that all safeguarding concerns are appropriately addressed and reported.

9. Review and Revision

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if there are changes in legislation or organisational structure. Volunteers will be informed of any updates to the policy.
