Lambourn Youth Junction recently embarked on an exciting aquatic adventure, taking to the waters at The Waterside in Newbury for an evening of paddle boarding. This event, organised in conjunction with Berkshire Youth, saw twelve enthusiastic children embrace the challenges and joys of learning to paddle board on the serene River Kennet.

The evening was filled with laughter, splashes, and a whole lot of fun. For many of the children, it was their first time on a paddle board, but any initial nervousness quickly gave way to excitement and enjoyment. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, the children learned the basics of paddle boarding, from balancing on the boards to mastering the paddling techniques.

As they gained confidence, the children participated in a series of games on the water, which added to the fun and camaraderie of the day. The River Kennet provided a beautiful backdrop for these activities, its gentle flow perfect for beginners and for games that involved plenty of splashing. One of the highlights of the event was, undoubtedly, splashing the organisers.

The paddle boarding event was not just about having fun; it was also an excellent opportunity for the children to develop new skills, build confidence, and foster teamwork. The supportive environment created by the organisers from Lambourn Youth Junction and Berkshire Youth ensured that each child felt encouraged and included.

As the children reluctantly left the water, their smiles and laughter were a clear indication of the fantastic time they had. The memories of this sunny evening on the River Kennet will surely stay with them, fueling their enthusiasm for future adventures.
