The Lambourn Youth Council’s summer Art Club proved to be a resounding success, bringing creativity, colour, and confidence to young people across the village. Led by local artist and teacher Helen Cooper, the sessions ran throughout the school holidays and gave children and teenagers the chance to explore their artistic side in a fun and supportive environment.

Each workshop went far beyond painting. While brushes and colours were certainly involved, the Art Club also became a place where young people learnt to work together, share ideas, and express themselves freely. Through group activities and creative challenges, the sessions encouraged teamwork and communication, helping participants grow in confidence and discover new ways to collaborate.

The results spoke for themselves — every session was oversubscribed, with many young people eager to join in. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were infectious, and it was clear that the Art Club had filled a real gap for creative, social activities during the summer months.

A huge thank you goes to the members of the Lambourn Youth Council, whose hard work made the Art Club possible, and especially to Alissia, who took on much of the planning and organisation. Her leadership and dedication helped turn the idea into a reality enjoyed by so many.

Following such an outstanding response, the Art Club will return during the Christmas holidays, this time with a festive theme focused on making decorations and gifts. If the summer sessions are anything to go by, this next round promises to be every bit as inspiring and enjoyable.
