Local equine vet Kate Halliday recently visited the Lambourn Youth Council to share her journey from a horse-loving youngster to a successful veterinary professional. Her talk was a big hit, especially with those keen on careers in equine health.
Kate spoke about how her passion for horses led her to where she is today, highlighting that loving what you do can be one of the strongest motivators for success. Her story struck a chord with many of the young people, some of whom are considering careers in veterinary medicine.
The Lambourn Youth Council, set up in January 2025, gives young people aged 11 to 17 a voice in their community. Funded by a grant from the SNG #iwill Fund, it tackles issues like youth facilities, the environment, and road safety. As part of its work, the council invites local professionals to share their experiences, helping young members learn about different career paths.

Kate’s visit was a great example of how the council is connecting young people with local experts, offering valuable insights and inspiration for the future.
