Sometimes the moment just seems right. Good ideas are followed by good news. And this is the case with plans to plant more trees in the Lambourn area with the support of the Lambourn Junction Community Interest Company.

Climate change remains a real threat. We can all do our bit, altering our behaviour to reduce environmental harm. One lovely way is to plant gardens and public spaces with wild flowers for insects, shrubs and hedges for birds and trees to help absorb carbon from the atmosphere.

The newly formed Lambourn Environmental Group is working with our Parish Council, West Berkshire Council and private land owners, just as the Woodland Trust is donating three million free trees to communities. They are supporting The Queen’s Green Canopy project (www.queensgreencanopy.org) , announced by Prince Charles, who wants us to celebrate our Queen’s 70 years on the throne, in 2022. Trees need to be planted from this October through to next March.
