Karen Spence recently joined Chris Capel on 4LEGSradio to introduce herself to listeners in her new role as Community Organiser. Speaking on Chris Capel’s show, Karen shared her enthusiasm for the area and outlined how the role is firmly rooted in the strong sense of community that already exists in the Lambourn Valley.

Karen explained that the Community Organiser role is part of the work of Lambourn Junction, and is focused on connecting people, groups and services more closely. She spoke about how she will be building on the thriving community spirit by supporting existing activities and helping to bring even more community events and support services to the area, working with a wide range of local and regional organisations.
During the interview, Karen highlighted one of her first planned initiatives, a Community Conversation taking place in the latter part of February. This event will invite local organisations, groups, charities and individuals who provide services in the community to come together, get to know each other and share ideas. One of the key outcomes will be the creation of a community directory, setting out the many organisations and offers that already support people across Lambourn and the surrounding villages.
Karen also noted that the role follows a national community organiser model and is made possible thanks to generous funding from SNG. With this support, the Community Organiser role aims to make it easier for residents to find help, feel connected and continue to strengthen the vibrant community life that Lambourn is well known for.
