The youth of Lambourn have discovered that there’s much more to graffiti than a can of spray paint. At the recent Graffiti Workshop held at the Lambourn Youth Junction, young participants dived into the vibrant world of street art, learning valuable skills under the guidance of a professional graffiti artist.

Over the course of four weeks, the group will been working on designing and executing a large-scale mural that will soon be displayed in the village. The workshop kicked off with the basics, as the artist introduced them to the principles of graffiti design. The young artists learned how to create balanced layouts, use color theory, and apply special effects like shadows and highlights to bring their work to life.

The experience has been eye-opening for many, as they realised the creativity and precision required in graffiti art. Far from being a random act of tagging, the process involves careful planning, a steady hand, and an eye for detail.

The culmination of the workshop will be a public display of their collective work, a vibrant mural that reflects the creativity and teamwork of the young people involved. This project not only beautifies the village but also gives the youth a sense of pride and ownership in their community.

As the mural takes shape, it’s clear that the Lambourn Youth Junction has succeeded in inspiring a new generation of artists, showing them that art can be a powerful tool for self-expression and community connection.
