The current cost of living crisis is impacting numerous individuals who find themselves in the challenging position of having to make tough choices between necessities such as food and fuel. Lambourn, situated in a rural setting and centred around the racehorse training industry, faces the additional challenge of limited public transport to the nearest town, which is located 9 miles away.
In response to these challenges, the Lambourn Junction Lunch Club has been established to offer a secure and welcoming space for individuals affected by the cost of living crisis and rural isolation. The club provides a complimentary meal, creating an opportunity for people to come together.
Doors open every Thursday from 12:00 to 13:30 at Walwyn Hall, Baydon Rd, Lambourn, Hungerford RG17 8NU.
If you wish to join us for a meal and a friendly chat next week, please contact Helen at 07770 394 123 to reserve your place. There’s no pressure, no judgment – just good company and a delightful hot meal, followed by tea and coffee.
Prior to initiating the Lambourn Lunch Club, we assessed the benefits it could bring to the community, and the feedback received thus far has been exceedingly positive.
The initiative is based in entirely around volunteers and does require funding to pay for the hot meals and the rental of the hall. If you would like to contribute please contact us.
The Lambourn Lunch Club is an initiative started by the Lambourn Community Interest Company which also operates the Lambourn food bank on a not-for-profit basis. The Lambourn Lunch Club is a project operated in conjunction with the FairClose Charity.
