Nine Lambourn Valley residents have completed the latest first aid training session organised by The Lambourn Junction. and financially supported by The Greenham Trust. Everyone found it informative and useful, learning skills that could make a real difference to a relative, neighbour or someone they have never met.

First aid is a practical way of looking after one another. Knowing what to do in an emergency can help people act when those around them may be unsure how to respond.

Having received their formal first aid certificates, participants were encouraged to join the GoodSAM network and download the GoodSAM Responder app.

GoodSAM enables participating ambulance services to alert registered, trained volunteers to a suspected cardiac arrest nearby. Those available can respond and provide assistance while an ambulance is on its way. The app also identifies nearby defibrillators, helping volunteers locate potentially lifesaving equipment.

In a rural community like the Lambourn Valley, where villages are spread out and journeys take time, a trained neighbour may be able to arrive sooner. Early cardiopulmonary resuscitation, known as CPR, and prompt use of a defibrillator can significantly improve someone’s chances of survival. GoodSAM provides a valuable connection between local people with these skills and someone who urgently needs their help.

A hugethank you to all nine participants for making time to learn. Every additional person trained strengthens our community’s ability to care for one another, whether at home, at work or out in the valley.
