Eighteen Lambourn Valley residents have completed a suicide prevention workshop organised by The Lambourn Junction, giving them the skills and confidence to recognise when someone may need help.

The course, accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, focused on spotting warning signs, approaching someone who may be struggling, understanding what action to take and knowing where to find appropriate professional support.

Participants said they found the workshop extremely useful and left feeling better equipped to respond. While everyone hopes they will never need to put their new skills into practice, having trained people throughout the community could make a vital difference when somebody is at their most vulnerable.

The Lambourn Junction thanked professional instructor Sue Bennett for handling such a sensitive subject with skill and engaging participants throughout the session.

The workshop was funded through a generous grant from Greenham Trust. Lambourn Sports Club also supported the initiative by providing the venue free of charge, demonstrating the strength of community organisations working together on an issue that can affect anyone.
