There’s been some brilliant news for the Lambourn Lunch Club, with a very welcome £2,500 grant from the Berkshire Community Foundation helping to keep things running over the coming year.
If you’ve ever popped in on a Thursday, you’ll know just how special the Lunch Club is. Around 20 people come along each week for a good meal and even better company, with extra takeaway lunches heading out to those who are housebound. It is a simple idea, but it makes a huge difference.
After lunch, things usually move on to a lively game of bingo, which is always a highlight. There is plenty of laughter, a bit of friendly competition and a real sense of togetherness in the room.
But what really stands out is the impact it has on people’s wellbeing. At the end of each session, we ask a quick question and people vote using tokens in jars. Recently we asked whether the Lunch Club is good for their mental health. Nineteen people voted and every single one said yes. That pretty much says it all.

This grant will help make sure the Lunch Club can carry on doing exactly that. It is a real boost and hugely appreciated by everyone involved.
A big thank you to Berkshire Community Foundation for their support. It will go a long way and will be felt every single week around the table in Lambourn.
