Press Release – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lambourn, West Berkshire – 9/12/2024 – Lambourn Junction Community Interest Company is thrilled to announce it has received a £9,000 grant from the SNG #iwill Fund’s Wellbeing Champions Programme to support young people in Lambourn through high-quality youth social action opportunities. This funding will play a vital role in the establishment and development of the Lambourn Youth Council (LYC), empowering young people aged 11 to 17 to engage in meaningful community projects and decision-making processes.
Launched in 2022, the SNG #iwill Fund is made possible thanks to a £66 million joint investment from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). SNG is acting as a match funder, awarding grants on behalf of the #iwill Fund, enabling projects like the Lambourn Youth Council to become a reality.
The establishment of the Lambourn Youth Council will provide a platform for young people to:
- Address topics such as environmental sustainability, public safety, and youth services.
- Develop well-being and mental health initiatives tailored to the younger community.
- Gain leadership and governance experience by participating in a youth-led council modelled on a parish council structure.
Christian Noll, a Director of the Lambourn Junction CIC, commented, “This funding is a game-changer for our community. It ensures our youth have the tools and opportunities they need to shape the future of Lambourn. We are deeply grateful to the SNG #iwill Fund and our partners who have supported us every step of the way.”
The project has also received tremendous support from key stakeholders, including Lambourn Parish Council, Berkshire Youth, and local leaders such as our West Berkshire Councillor Howard Woollaston and Lee Dillon, Member of Parliament for Newbury. Their backing underscores the importance of investing in young people as vital contributors to the community.
The Lambourn Youth Council will operate under the guidance of the Lambourn Junction CIC, which will oversee its structure, governance, and funding. This initiative reflects Lambourn Junction’s mission to foster inclusivity, engagement, and community well-being.

#iwill Fund
The #iwill Fund is made possible thanks to £66 million joint investment from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to support young people to access high quality social action opportunities.
The #iwill Fund brings together a group of organisations who all contribute funding to embed meaningful social action into the lives of young people.
The #iwill Fund supports the aims of the #iwill campaign – to make involvement in social action a part of life for young people, by recognising the benefit for both young people and their communities.
By bringing together funders from across different sectors and by making sure that young people have a say in where the funding goes – _the #iwill Fund is taking a collaborative approach.
SNG is acting as an #iwill match funder and awarding grants on behalf of the #iwill Fund through the SNG #iwill Fund.
The #iwill movement
The #iwill movement is a collaboration of over 1000 organisations and 300 young #iwill Ambassadors from across the UK. They are united by a shared belief that all children and young people should be supported and empowered to make a broader society.
#iwill was launched in November 2013 after an independent review into how different sectors could help more young people to make a positive difference.
The #iwill movement is supported by an independent coordination hub, hosted by Volunteering Matters & UK Youth.
