Mark and Adrian, alongside Ruth and other dedicated volunteers, have been hard at work maintaining the village orchard. The most recent efforts focused on the grass, which has been carefully mown and raked. Bare patches were sown with a mix of wildflower and foxglove seeds, promising to create a vibrant and sustainable base for the orchard in the years to come.
Looking ahead, plans are underway to purchase additional apple trees to replace one that has sadly not survived. Further planting will take place both in the orchard and at other locations around the village. The chosen variety for the new trees is Lord Lambourne, a delicious eating apple that feels particularly fitting for Lambourn.
With these efforts, the village is set to be adorned with stunning blossoms next spring. A heartfelt thank you goes to the Lambourn Environmental Group for their energy and enthusiasm in making this vision a reality.
