What was once a rather sorry looking, half-collapsed shed at the Lambourn Allotments is now back on its feet and ready for action, thanks to a great bit of local teamwork.

When the Lambourn WI took on an allotment plot, they were keen to get things growing again and bring the space back into use. The only problem was the shed, which had quite literally fallen into disuse. Leaning, weathered and no longer fit for purpose, it was more of an obstacle than an asset.

Step forward the Lambourn Shed.

Led by Adrian Watson, the team arrived armed with saws, hammers, screwdrivers and some much-needed new timber from Fort Builders Merchants in Membury. With a mix of practical skills, teamwork and good humour, they set about tackling the job.

The transformation did not take long to become clear. The shed has been rebuilt with a solid new roof, straightened vertical sides and, importantly, a door that now opens and closes properly. Inside, new shelving has been fitted, creating a useful and organised space ready for tools, seeds and everything needed for the growing season ahead.

It is exactly the kind of project the Lambourn Shed is known for. Bringing people together to share skills, lend a hand and quietly get things done, all while creating something genuinely useful for the community.

For the Lambourn WI, it means their new allotment plot now has a proper base to work from. For the Shed team, it is another job well done and another example of what can be achieved when local groups pull together.

A simple project on the surface, but a great reminder that a few tools, some timber and a willing group of people can turn something forgotten into something full of purpose again.
