The Lambourn Community Orchard was established in 2021 as a collaborative project between the local community and West Berkshire Council, with the aim of planting apple and other fruit trees to enrich the countryside. Since then, the trees have flourished, and the orchard has become a thriving haven for wildlife, particularly insects, thanks to the installation of a protective fence to deter deer and other large animals from damaging the young saplings.

A dedicated team of local volunteers cares for the orchard, pruning the trees, regularly clearing weeds, tending to the plants, and ensuring the trees have the best conditions to grow strong and healthy.
More than just a place to cultivate fruit, the orchard has become a cherished space for the whole community to enjoy. Children frequently visit to observe the trees as they grow, watch insects pollinating the blossoms, and learn about the natural world. Its presence has added real value to the village, offering a tranquil setting for residents to connect with nature and each other.
Looking ahead, the plan is to continue with regular maintenance and community activities to ensure that the orchard remains a much-loved feature of Lambourn for generations to come.
